What is the Conversaciones open call?
Conversaciones was a photography open call that took place at EMC Magazine a few years ago, in a virtual format. It had three editions, which you can find in the photography section of the website. Today we bring it back in a new format: a printed edition.
The premise is the same one that gave it life: finding pairs among the images we receive, so that the selected works enter into dialogue with each other and form a constellation. The theme is open, the material does not need to be previously unpublished, and submissions can be analog or digital. Each participant may submit up to 5 images, from which we may select between 1 and 5. The images do not need to belong to the same series: each one must work independently. The open call is open to participants from around the world.
Participation Terms
By participating, each person agrees that the submitted images may be used for publication, distribution, and sale as part of the printed issue of EMC Magazine in which they participate. If photographs include recognizable individuals, the participant is responsible for obtaining the corresponding consent. EMC Magazine is not liable for failure to comply with this condition.
Participation Fee
To make this edition possible, we ask for a participation fee that goes entirely toward the production of the printed issue. This covers printing, binding, and distribution costs, as well as the work of the colorist, who is responsible for calibrating each image to ensure faithful reproduction. The fee is ARS 5,000 for residents in Argentina, payable via Mercado Pago (alias: emclibros), and USD 5 for international participants, payable via PayPal (@emcmagazine). Both accounts are in the name of Eliana Morte.
Selection and Results
Selection will be carried out by the editorial team of EMC Magazine. Payment of the participation fee does not guarantee selection. Those not selected will not receive individual notification; the names of selected participants will be announced on EMC Magazine's social media. The participation fee is non-refundable under any circumstances.
Technical Requirements
All participants must submit their material via WeTransfer in two versions: low-resolution images for the selection stage, and high-resolution files in TIFF format at 300 dpi in RGB, at the maximum available size. Files must be named FirstName_LastName_01 and sent to conversacionesemc@gmail.com.
Copy and Distribution
Each selected participant will receive a copy of the printed issue. Publication is scheduled for July 2026. Participants residing outside Argentina will be responsible for covering international shipping costs; EMC Magazine will inform them of the amount before proceeding with the shipment.

First Printed Edition
Please read the following terms and conditions carefully before participating.
1. OPEN CALL
The open call will be open from the date of publication until May 15, 2026. It is open to participants from around the world. Participation implies knowledge and acceptance of these terms. Any matter not covered herein will be resolved by the editorial team of EMC Magazine.
2. PARTICIPATION CONDITIONS
Photographers of any nationality and place of residence may participate. Each participant may submit up to 5 images. The images do not need to belong to the same series: each one must work independently. The theme is open, the material does not need to be previously unpublished, and submissions may be analog or digital. It is an essential condition that the submitted images are the participant's own work and do not infringe upon third-party rights.
3. PARTICIPATION FEE
To make this edition possible, a participation fee is required, which goes entirely toward the production costs of the printed issue: printing, binding, and colorist work. EMC Magazine reserves the right to accept or reject any submitted proposals without this giving rise to any claim, compensation, or refund on the part of the participant. The names of selected participants will be published on EMC Magazine's social media. Those not selected will not receive individual notification.
6. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY AND RIGHTS TRANSFER
Participants declare that they are the authors and rights holders of the submitted works, and warrant that the photographs are original and do not infringe upon third-party rights. By participating, they grant EMC Magazine a non-exclusive license to reproduce, distribute, and commercialize the selected works solely within the framework of the printed edition that is the subject of this open call, and in the promotional channels associated with it. EMC Magazine commits to crediting the author's name visibly alongside their work in all uses. Participants retain ownership of their intellectual property rights in accordance with Law 11.723.
7. RIGHT OF IMAGE
If photographs include recognizable individuals, the participant is responsible for obtaining the corresponding consent. EMC Magazine is not liable for failure to comply with this condition. Participants assume full responsibility for any claim that may arise from the violation of a third party's right of image.
8. COPY AND DISTRIBUTION

9. PERSONAL DATA PROTECTION
Personal data collected within the framework of this open call will be used exclusively for its management, in compliance with Law 25.326 on Personal Data Protection. It will not be shared with third parties or used for purposes other than those set out herein.
10. ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS
Participation in this open call implies full knowledge and acceptance of these terms and conditions. EMC Magazine reserves the right to modify them due to circumstances beyond its control, without this giving rise to any claim.
